The reason for the decline since 2007 is mainly that a new railway shortcut [[Lahti]]–[[Kerava]] was opened September 2006, which considerably shortened the railway travel time to Helsinki, and cause the Helsinki route to close. In 2010, [[Ryanair]] started flights to Lappeenranta, its second destination in Finland after [[Tampere Airport|Tampere]].
