Pada 20 Juli 2015, Sonamoo merilis mini-album kedua mereka ''Cushion''. Pada  29 Juni  2016, Sonamoo merilis EP ke-tiga mereka, ''I Like U Too Much''. Album ini memperlihatkan sisi baru grup ini yang lebih ceria dibandingkan konsep debut yang mereka sebut sendiri sebagai konsep yang "suram". Pada 9 Januari  2017, grup ini merilis album single pertama ''I Think I Love U''. Lagu utama dalam album ini merupakan lagu bergenre ''dance''  yang ceria. Pada  27 Juli, TS Entertainment merilis ''teaser''  untuk ''Happy Box Project ''dan mengungkapkan bahwa mereka akan merilis tiga single dalam waktu beberapa bulan. Single pertama "''Friday Night''" dirilis pada 14 Agustus.
