Michael James Way lahir tanggal 10 September 1980 di Newark, New Jarsey, dimana dia tumbuh. Dia adalah adik laki-laki dari Gerard Arthur Way(Dengannya ia memiliki hubungan yang paling baik, dan tentunya dia ber-ras Skotlandia/Italia seperti kakaknya). Pada saat masih kecil, Mikey dan Gerard dilarang keluar rumah oleh orangtuanya,Kenapa? Karena mereka tinggal di daerah yg berbahaya. Mikey bersaudara dengan Joe Rogan, Pembawa acara di acara NBC Fear Factor dan memberikan kesempatan bagi Mikey untuk casting dalam acaranya(joe adalah Mikey saudara sepupu dari ibunya). Sambil Berkembang, keluarga Way bekerja di Barnes & Noble. Pada audisi masuk dalam Eyeball Records(Perusahaan yang memasukkan My Chemical Romance pada debut album pertama mereka). Konser pertama mereka adalah pada Smashing Pumpkins konser.

Mikey adalah bassis dalam band My Chemical Romance dan belajar bass karena kakaknya untuk bermain di Bandnya. Dia menghentikan Perguruan Tingginya untuk band kakaknya dan berusaha menjadi Bassist yang hebat. Mikey tentu berpengaruh dalam pembuatan nama pada band My Chemical Romance. Idenya yang berasal dari nama novel “Three Tales of Chemical Romance”. Dia dan Neneknya, Elena, kebetulan saja membeli Van pertama mereka untuk menjalankan Tour. Sebelum masuk MCR band, Mikey mengikuti audisi untuk masuk pada Frank Iero(gitaris MCR) band, yg bernama Pancy Prep. Dia meninggalkannya. Pada hari pertama MCR Tour, Mikey meminum Minuman Keras untuk menutupi ketakutannya pada Panggung. Sekarang, Mikey sukses bersama Frank ketika bandnya mulai membuat rekaman.

Band favoritnya adalah Antrax, dan dapat sering terlihat dia memakai baju yang bertuliskan Antrax. Mikey menjadi pecandu iPod dan menjadi penimbun batrei iPod. Maknan Favoritnya adalah Sushi dan menuntut bahwa ia tidak dapat menambah berat badannya dengan ini. Schlock Filem Horror adalah favoritnya. Mikey menyukai Unicorn. Dia memiliki kucing bernama Bunny Marie Way yang sangat ia cintai. Bunny memiliki My Space. Sebaliknya, ia membenci ruangan kecil, ruangan yg terlalu besar, uangan terbuka dan berbelanja grosiran.

Mikey bertuanangan dengan Alicia Simmons. Rumornya, mereka akan menikah pada 17 Mei 2007. tapi ternyata 7 Maret 2007. Alicia adalah guitaris dan dia bermain mewakili gitaris dari akhir 2005. Mereka hidup bersama di Brooklyn, New York City, dan mereka bahagia satu sama lain. Dan, mereka memiliki tato yang sama pada lengan mereka yang bergambarkan hati dan bertuliskan FOREVER.

Sebenarnya, dahulu mikey menggunakan kacamata, namun akhirnya ia melepaskan kacamatanya pada tahun 2006. Dan setelah jangka waktu lama akhirnya Ia melepaskan kacamatanya yang tidak berguna itu.

Unable to see such things as the chalkboard, the movie screen (or anything more than 5 feet away) the lad was forced to get corrective lenses. Michael and his glasses spent many fruitful years together. They saw each other through the good times, as well as the bad. In May of 2006 this friendship came to a crashing halt.
