Ibukotanya adalah [[Cuenca]]. Terletak di selatan Ekuador, dengan geografi dataran tinggi. Pegunungannya mencapai {{convert|4500|m|abbr=on}} di atas permukaan laut berlokasi di [[taman nasional El Cajas]].
Azuay terletak di Panamerican Highway. Cuenca terhubung dengan penerbangan nasional dari [[Quito]] dan [[Guayaquil]]. Provinsi ini memiliki pembangkit listrik tenaga air terbesar di Ekuador yang terletak di [[sungai Paute]].
