== Sinopsis ==
Awalnya, serial ini fokus pada kehidupan dan kisah cinta orang tua Ashoka [[Subhadrangi|Dharma]] dan [[Bindusara]]. Bindusara adalah Raja Magadha yang tengah berkuasa, sementara ibu tirinya melakukan konspirasi untuk melawannya. Bindusara diserang oleh suruhan Ratu Helena namun diselamatkan oleh gadis Brahma berparas cantik dan cerdas bernama Subhadrangi/Dharma. Kagum akan kemampuannya, Bindusara pun jatuh cinta dan menikahinya. Kemudian Dharma hamil. Sesi ini berakhir ketika salah satu istri Bindusara dan ayahnya Mir Khorasan mencoba untuk membunuh Dharma. Dharma melahirkan seorang anak laki-laki dan memberinya nama "[[Ashoka]]" (tanpa kesedihan).
 
====14 tahun kemudian====
Serial ini kemudian fokus pada masa kecil [[Ashoka]]; yang mendapat bimbingan dan latihan dari Acharya Chanakya. Acharya Chanakya percaya bahwa Ashoka akan menjadi penguasa Magadha yang hebat karena kepribadiannya dan sumpahnya untuk melayani tanah air hingga akhir hayatnya.
 
Acharya Chanakya menjadi ancaman bagi Ratu Helena, Permaisuri Charumitra, Pangeran Susima, Khalatak, dan Pangeran Siyamak bersatu untuk melenyapkan Acharya Chanakya. Namun pada saat terakhirnya dia menyampaikan keinginannya melihat Ashoka menjadi Raja Magadha bagaimanapun caranya.
 
Ashoka yakin Acharya Chanakya tidak meninggal secara kebetulan. Ashoka bersumpah untuk menghukum para pelaku sekaligus mewujudkan harapan dan sumpah terakhir Chanakya untuk menjadi Raja Magadha.
 
Ashoka ditugaskan ke Takshashila untuk mengakhiri kekejian Keechak, dan setelah perjuangan yang amat berat, tugas ini berhasil dituntaskan. Di sanalah dia bertemu dengan Putri dari Kalinga, Kaurwaki.
 
Ashoka kembali ke Patliputra. Dari Ratu Helena yang tengah sekarat dia mengetahui pembunuh Acharya Chanakya. Dia mencoba menghukum para pelaku yang tak lain adalah keluarganya sendiri, namun keadaan berbalik; membuatnya menyerang Raja Bindusara dan melukai Susima. Demi alasan keadilan, Bindusara mengusir Ashoka dari Patliputra, Permaisuri Dharma memilih pergi dengannya.
 
====10 tahun kemudian====
Ashoka berubah menjadi kejam sehingga dijuluki Chand. Bersama Permaisuri Dharma dan adiknya, Pangeran Vit tinggal di rumah milik saudagar Dhanisharam ayah Devi di [[Ujjain]]. Sementara itu di Kalinga, Kaurwaki berusaha meyakinkan Raja Jagannath untuk merestui hubungannya dengan Ashoka. Di Patlputra, Bindusara menjadi lebih keras dan kasar, sementara Pangeran menjadi lebih kuat dengan bantuan ilmu hitam.
 
Di Patliputra digelar pertandingan gulat. Saat pertandingan antara Ashoka, Permaisuri Dharma dan Pangeran Vit menghentikan pertandingan. Raja Bindusara memaafkan mereka dan meminta mereka untuk kembali ke Patliputra. Permaisuri Dharma dan Pangeran Vit kembali kembali, namun Ashoka menolak. Dia pergi ke hutan dan bertemu Kaurwaki, kemudian menyelamatkan Devi dan ayahnya dari Nirankush. Ashoka kembali ke Patliputra dan mengungkap praktik perpajakan yang dilakukan oleh Kondna selama 10 tahun terakhir kepada Raja Bindusara.
 
Ashoka menyusun rencana untuk menangkap Kondna. Dari Nirankush Ashoka mengetahui bahwa Kondna adalah Ratu Helena. Ashoka atas bantuan Lasandra (musuh Helena) berhasil membuat Helena menyerahkan diri yang sampai akhir hayatnya masih sempat menyusun rencana untuk Siamak.
 
Kemudian, persiapan pernikahan Ashoka dan Kaurwaki dimulai. Setelah mengetahui ramalan buruk atas penikahan keduanya Dharma tidak setuju. Sementara Jagannath setuju dengan pernikahan tersebut dengan syarat Bindusara menyerahkan tahta Magadha kepadanya setelah pernikahan usai. Bindusara setuju. Dihari pernikahan Ashoka mengetahui kesepakatan ini dan membatalkan pernikahan dan melukai Jagannath. Dalam keadaan emosi Ashoka menikahi Devi di depan Kaurwaki.
 
Siamak pergi ke Takshasihla dan memanggil tentara Yunani untuk melakukan kudeta. Ashoka membunuh Siyamak kemudian kembali ke Patliputra. Susima mengendalikan Bindusara, sementara Jagannath menuduh Ashoka telah membunuh Kaurwaki. Devi menemukan Kaurwaki dan menyelamatkan Ashoka. Setelah kematian Bindusara Susima dan Ashoka bertarung, tapi Susima melompat ke pit yang membara. Ashoka dinobatkan sebagai Raja Magadha.
 
Serial ini diakhiri dengan Perang Kalinga.
