Pada bulan Agustus1992, grup ini membiayai sendiri produksi mereka berisi tujuh lagu [[Powderfinger (EP)|dengan judul nama band]], yang juga dikenal dengan sebutan ''Blue EP'', di bawah label mereka, Finger yang didistribusikan oleh MDS.

Pada bulan Januari1994 Powderfinger tampil di tour [[Big Day Out]].
Album studio kedua, ''[[Double Allergic]]'', dikeluarkan pada tanggal 2 September 1996, menemmpati urutan ke-4 tangga lagu ARIA Albums Chart dan mendapatkan tiga sertifikat [[Music recording sales certification|platinum]] dari ARIA tersebab penjualan mencapai 210,000 keping, sampai dengan tahun 2007.
