It was only after reformation in 1998 that he began to be revealed again in a vague way through a book entitled "Atjeh Mendakwa" which contained his pleas when he was tried for inciting 2 years before the G30S/PKI took place. He was murdered by being shot in the head by the anti-communist army during the PKI massacre in 1965-1966. He was arrested while traveling to Takengon, Central Aceh and taken to Lhoknga on the west coast of Aceh for execution. Sejak tragedi 1965 dan dilanjutkan oleh pemerintahan (Orde Baru), ia dilupakan oleh masyarakat Aceh. Akhirnya setelah reformasi tahun 1998 ia mulai terungkap kembali secara samar-samar melalui sebuah buku berjudul "Atjeh Mendakwa" yang berisi permohonannya ketika diadili karena menghasut orang-orang, 2 tahun sebelum peristiwa G30S/PKI terjadi. Ia ditangkap saat melakukan perjalanan ke Takengon, Aceh Tengah dan dibawa ke Lhoknga di sisi pantai barat Aceh untuk dieksekusi pada saat pembersihan PKI dilakukan pada rentangan tahun 1965-1966.
