Karena itu, V'ger terus-menerus mencari penciptanya dan bersikeras bahwa penciptanya akan datang dalam wujud manusia. Akhirnya, awak Enterprise sadar bahwa V'ger ingin menyatukan diri dengan penciptanya. Deckerpun menyatukan dirinya dengan V'ger dan robot pemantau Ilia. Merekapun menghilang ke dimensi lain.
