Turnamen catur korespondensi biasanya dilakukan di bawah kewenangan badan pengatur resmi, yang terpenting adalah [[International Correspondence Chess Federation]] ([[ICCF]]), yang berafiliasi dengan [[FIDE]], organisasi catur internasional. Pada tahun-tahun terkini, penggunaan program catur yang kuat telah memuncurkan tantangan baru untuk organisasi seperti ICCF dan [[U.S. Chess Federation]], yang mengharuskan keputusan-keputusan yang kadang-kadang kontroversial atas dapat diterimanya program tersebut dalam permainan korespondensi resmi.

Persuatan Cakir Korespondensi Indonesia (PERCAKI) didirikan tanggal 1 Februari 2017 sebagai wadah pemain catur korespondensi Indonesia datam International Chess Correspondensi Federation (ICCF).
 
Susuan Pengurus Percaki: Yosua Sitorius (Ketua), Budi Setya Adhi (Vakil Ketua).
