Adalah kesalahan mendasar secara biologi menisbatkan kepik kepada Coccinellidae. Entomolog di Indonesia saya rasa selalu menisbatkan kepik kepada banyak anggota Hemiptera. Kepik untuk Coccinellidae adalah pengaruh bahasa Jawa, yang menamakan semua serangga yang melata di pepohonan dan bertubuh keras sebagai kepik.
