Sebelum debut grup, beberapa anggota sudah tidak asing lagi dengan dunia hiburan. [[G-Dragon]] dan [[Taeyang]] menjadi ''trainee'' di bawah label [[YG Entertainment]] sejak usia 11 tahun. [[T.O.P]] adalah seorang rapper bawah tanah (''underground rapper'')<ref name="Crazy for K-Pop" /> dengan nama panggung "Tempo."
