Tips Mengkonfigurasi jaringan Ad-Hoc Wireless LAN (peer-to-peer)

Ad-Hoc Wireless LAN
 
Model jaringan ini memungkinkan perangkat wireless berkomunikasi satu sama lain secara langsung tanpa central access point.
 
Banyak metode digunakan untuk konfigurasi jaringan Ad-Hoc, berikut adalah salah satu contoh sederhana tips dan tahapan dalam mengkonfigurasi jaringan Ad-Hoc wireless LAN.
 
1. Dibutuhkan “wireless network card” pada masing-masing komputer.
2. Masuk ke “network card properties” dan set SSID dengan nama tertentu (unique). Pastikan bahwa anda mengkonfigure SSID dengan nama yang sama untuk masing-masing komputer. Jika tidak sama, jaringan tidak akan terhubung.
3. Masuk ke “network card properties” dan set “channel” untuk jaringan wireless yang akan digunakan. Pastikan anda mengkonfigurasi channel dengan angka yang sama untuk masing-masing komputer. Jika tidak, jaringan tidak akan terhubung.
4. Set IP LAN static pada kedua komputer. Patikan anda mengkonfigurasi IP komputer tersebut dalam satu subnet dan range yang sama. Jika anda set IP pada satu komputer 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0, pastikan komputer lainnya di set juga pada range (192.168.1.2-254).
5. Set “network card” pada mode “ad-hoc”, bukan “infrastructure”.
 
Dengan konfigurasi diatas, seharusnya jaringan ad-hoc anda sudah bisa berjalan normal.
 
Misal, salah satu PC anda terhubung ke internet, dan PC satu lagi ingin ikut/numpang dalam mengakses internet, anda bisa mengaktifkan fungsi Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) pada OS Windows, berikut tahapannya:
 
1. Aktifkan “ICS” pada PC yang memiliki koneksi internet. Catat alamat IP PC ini, yang akan menjadi komputer “host”.
2. Set “default gateway” “network card” pada PC yang kedua ke alamat IP komputer “host” (refer ke No.1).
3. Set “DNS server” untuk PC yang kedua dengan alamat IP DNS dari ISP anda.
 
Perlu diingat bahwa dengan “Internet Connection Sharing” (ICS) via ad-hoc wireless LAN, komputer “host” harus selalu “ON”, jika anda ingin PC kedua bisa mengakses internet.
 
Tahapan Test Koneksi untuk PC Windows :
 
1. Klik Start.
2. Klik Run.
3. Ketik “cmd”.
4. Ketik “ping x.x.x.x”, dimana x.x.x.x adalah alamat IP dari salah satu PC.
5. Jika “ping is successful”, maka jaringan anda sudah UP dan anda memiliki “full connectivity”

Udah pada tau kan Jaringan ad hoc itu yang kaya gimana??
 
Nah langsung ajah guys, berhubung sudah saya jelasin apa itu jaringan ad hoc dan bagaimana bentuk dan kegunaanya di postingan saya sebelumnya. saya sekarang cuma mau sharing aja cara membuat jaringan ad hoc di ubuntu anda, kali ini saya buat di Ubuntu 8.04 . namun saya rasa untuk versi seterusnya caranya sama saja.
 
Oke, ikuti langkah-langkah membuat jaringan ad-hoc di ubuntu berikut ini :
 
1. Pada Panel atau biasa disebut taskbar pada windows. klik System -> Preferences -> Network Configuration.
 
Berikut tampilan dari jendela Network Configuration.
 
2. DariTab Wired, Pindah ke Tab Wireless. klik +Add.
 
Keterangan : Isi Connection Name dan SSID sesuai keinginan anda, misal : nama anda. dan rubah Mode dari Infrastructure menjadi Ad-hoc.
 
Kemudian pada ‘Wireless Security’ , Pilih Jenis Security yang anda inginkan. Disini saya tidak akan memberikan penjelasan lebih lanjut mengenai jenis-jenis security wireless. Gunakan saja ‘WPA & WPA 2 Personal‘, isikan juga Passwordnya , ingat! minimal password adalah 8 karakter.
 
Kemudian pada IPv4 Setting. Rubah Method menjadi Manual dan isikan seperti berikut ini :
 
IP Adress : 192.168.1.1
 
Netmask : 255.255.255.0
 
Nah jika sudah, Klik OK!!! Jaringan Ad-hoc anda sudah selesai di buat . tinggal Connect dan tunggu client yang akan masuk ke jaringan ad hoc anda.

Pihak universitas terutama University of California at Berkeley kemudian membangun sistem operasi Berkeley Software Distribution Unix) atau BSD UNIX (dikenal dengan nama Free BSD Unix) dan pihak departemen pertahanan membiayai Bolt Baranek dan Newman (BBN) untuk meng-implementasi protokol TCP/IP pada BSD Unix untuk diterapkan pada ARPANET, dengan demikian cikal-bakal internet terbentuk.
 
Pada penghujung tahun 1983, jaringan ARPANET dibagi dua menjadi DARPANET (Defence ARPANET) dan MILNET (MILitary NETwork). Pada tahun 1985 dibentuklah jaringan NFSNET (National Science Foundation NETwork) untuk menghubungkan supercomputer yang ada diberbagai universitas di Amerika dan disambungkan dengan ARPANET. Jaringan NSFNET dikembangkan terus oleh periset perguruan tinggi. Pada tahun 1988 jaringan backbone internet ini hanya berkapasitas 56 Kbps. Walaupun pada tahun 1990 secara resmi ARPANET ditutup, namun jaringan internet yang telah terbentuk diteruskan oleh pihak universitas di Amerika dan memasukkan jaringan universitas di benua Amerika (Kanada dan Amerika Selatan) serta jaringan di Eropa menjadi bagian dari internet. Pada tahun 1992 jaringan backbone ditingkatkan ke T3 dengan kecepatan 45 Mbps, dan disekitar tahun 1995 ditingkatkan lagi menjadi OC-3 pada kecepatan 155 Mbps. Kini backbone internet berkecepatan tinggi dalam order Gbps.
 
Topologi internet pada dasarnya adalah mesh-topology, menghubungkan banyak jenis jaringan melalui sistem packet-switching, kalaupun bisa dikatakan yang menjadi pusat-nya adalah beberapa NAP (Network Access Point) yang ada di San Fransisco (Pacific Bell), di Chicago (Ameritech), New Jersey (Sprint), dan Merit Access Exchange (MAE) di San Fransisco (MAE West) dan Washington, D.C (MAE East) yang ditangani oleh MFS Datanet.
 
Walaupun tidak ada organisasi yang memiliki internet, namun ada banyak organisasi yang memelihara jaringan ini melalui penetapan standarisasi protokol, aturan-aturan, serta metoda akses. Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) menangani masalah-masalah teknis yang timbul di internet, seperti masalah pada protokol, arsitektur dan pengoperasian internet. Internet Research Task Force (IRTF) menangani riset teknis, seperti sistem pengalamatan dan rekayasa lainnya. Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) mengatur pembagian alamat IP (IP#) ke berbagai negara dan organisasi. Internet Society (ISOC) menangani masalah administrasi dan struktur organisasi internet.

Secara logis jaringan internet dibagi kedalam beberapa domain, yang menurut standar IPv4 (Internet Protocol version 4) di-identifikasi melalui nomer IP 32 bit atau 4 angka biner yang dipisahkan dengan titik (seperti 192.168.10.25). Tipe domain standar antara lain:

* .edu = institusi pendidikan di Amerika
* .ac = institusi akademik
* .gov = institusi pemerintah
* .mil = organisasi militer
* .net = penyedia akses jaringan

Sepertinya Larry memang mengonotasikan anarki dengan perusakan, meskipun yang lebih tepat digunakan di wikipedia adalah vandalisme (perbuatan merusak karya). Memang anarki sering disalahpakaikan oleh pengguna bahasa. Lihat saja di berita-berita media massa, selalu muncul penggunaan "tindakan anarkis" untuk menggambarkan tindakan perusakan [[vandalisme]]. Padahal, [[anarkisme|anarki]] lebih mengarah pada tindakan antikemapanan (tanpa peraturan) atau kekacauan dalam suatu negara.

Kali ini saya mendokumentasikan tentang bagaimana mengkonfigurasi jaringan VLAN pada
network switching layer 2. Di sini saya menggunakan cisco simulator 4, meski pun kita tidak
mengakses perangkat switch secara real, konfigurasi simulator ini cukup canggih dan sangat
membantu, sayang nya ada beberapa perintah yang tidak support pada simulator tersebut, seperti
menjalankan spaning tree. Terus terang saja konfigurasi jaringan pada Network VLAN cukup
sederhana, tetapi pemahaman mendasar tentang konsep bagaimana network switching layer 2
bekerja sangat membantu anda. Ada beberapa hal yang saya ingin anda ketahui disini, agar dapat
membantu anda dalam memahami dunia networking VLAN, pastikan anda memahami konsepkonsep
dasar yang dibawah ini :
- konsep dasar TCP/IP, Broadcast domain, collision domain
- konsep dasar bagaimana switching layer 2 bekerja
- konsep dasar Spanning Tree
- konsep dasar VLAN
- Konsep dasar Trunking
- konsep VTP (Virtual Trunking Protokol)
- bagaiman VTP Server dan VTP Clien bekerja
- konsep enkapsulation ISL dan dot1Q

Hanya itu saja yang diperlukan untuk memahami dunia VLAN, ketika anda memahami semua
konsep dasar diatas maka sebesar apapun network VLAN yang anda bangun tidak akan menjadi
masalah, untuk tingkat pemula dan setting VLAN standart tentunya. Di sini saya tidak membahas
tentang semua konsep-konsep diatas karena untuk membahas itu semua memerlukan ruangan
