Setelah [[serangan 11 September]] pada 2001, beberapa orang menyebut [[Islam]] sebagai '''agama damai''' dalam upaya menjauhkannya dari [[terorisme Islam|teroris Islam]].

[[Sherman Jackson]] meyakini bahwa komentar-komentar para politikus Barat tentang Islam adalah agama damai adalah sebuah upaya [[pembenaran politik]].
