Bahasa Karon Dori dicirikan dengan jumlah konsonan yang kecil dan penghindaran [[kluster konsonan]]. Terdapat dua [[Gender (tata bahasa)|gender gramatikal]] dalam bahasa ini, yaitu gender maskulin dan taktermarkahi. Morfologinya lumayan sederhana. Imbuhan-imbuhan penanda [[persona]] ditambahkan pada verba dan nomina [[Kepemilikan inalianabel|yang dimiliki secara inalienabel]]. Bahasa Karon Dori memiliki sistem [[demonstrativa]] (kata seperti "ini" atau "itu") yang rumit. Demonstrativa dalam bahasa Maybrat memarkahi jarak dari pembicara, kekhususan dan fungsi sintaktis. Dalam klausa, bahasa Ayamaru memiliki urutan kata [[subjek–verba–objek]] yang kaku. Dalam frasa nomina, pewatas diletakkan setelah nomina inti. Deret verba seperti [[verba serial]] lazim ditemui, dan verba juga mengisi fungsi yang biasanya dipenuhi oleh adjektiva dan preposisi dalam bahasa seperti bahasa Inggris.
