Mungkin ini tidak terlalu penting. Sebagian besar orang Indonesia, terutama guru sejarah (karena bangunan ini bernilai sejarah), jarang sekali menyebut bangunan ini sebagai '''Hagia Sophia''' (menurut fonetik baku Indonesia). Sebagai gantinya, sebutan yang lebih sering digunakan adalah Aya Sofia, atau Aya Sofya. Referensi yang dapat digunakan adalah buku-buku sejarah di dalam Buku Sekolah Elektronik SMA yang dapat diunduh dari situs web resmi Depdiknas. :Artikel ini sudah sangat lama :-) Dibuat oleh anon pada bulan Januari 2005, mungkin memakai Telkomnet instan kalau melihat alamat IP-nya ... Saya sih setuju saja. Kalau melihat artikel Turki disebut Ayasofya, jadi disambung. Silakan, toh nama Aya Sofia/Sofya masih berdasarkan nama Hagia Sophia. :Ada bagusnya tetap memakai nama Hagia Sophia. Karena sejarah membuktikan bahwa nama sebenarnya adalah Hagia Sophia sebelum direbut oleh penjajah yang berkuasa di Turki. Selain itu, bangunan ini pula juga berdiri dan diciptakan oleh pendirinya dengan nama Hagia Sophia. Jadi hormatilah kreatifitas arsitek pertama yang membangun. ::::Saya masih sependapat dengan [[User:Meursault2004|Pak Revo]]. Sudut pandang saya bukanlah sejarah (meskipun referensinya buku bertema sejarah) melainkan penyesuaian fonetik (pronounsiasi), pembunyian huruf-demi-huruf. Alangkah baiknya apabila disesuaikan dengan lidah penutur asli bahasa Indonesia. Penulisan "Hagia Sophia" sendiri yang diucapkan oleh penutur bahasa-bahasa Indo-Eropid mungkin akan menghasilkan bunyi yang sedikit mirip (kalau enggan dikatakan hampir sama) dengan "Ayasofya" dalam judul berbahasa Turki. Kata "Indonesia" juga dapat dituliskan dengan "Indônèsia", "Indonezija", "Indonesien", "İndoneziya", إندونيسيا , اندونيسيا , ইন্দোনেশিয়া , Индонезия, "Yindunixiya", "Indonezha", "Induniziyyah", "Indonesië", dll (ada di interwiki). Sesuai dengan tradisi penulisan bahasa masing-masing --tentunya juga disesuaikan dengan lidah penutur aslinya. Hehe...
