Kesha Rose Sebert atau yang lebih dikenal dengan Ke$ha lahir pada [[1 Maret]] 1987 di [[Los Angeles]], [[California]]. Ibunya yang bernama Pebe Sebert adalah orang tua tunggal yang berprofesi sebagai penyanyi serta penulis lagu aliran country. Ketika masih kecil, ibu Ke$ha memiliki masalah finansial yang sangat serius, dan dia memutuskan untuk bekerja sambil mengasuh kakak laki-laki Ke$ha bernama Lagan dan Ke$ha yang pada saat itu masih bayi. Untuk makan sehari-hari saja mereka mengharapkan kupon gratis yang dibagikan oleh pemerintah setempat. Pada tahun 1991 keluarga Sebert memutuskan untuk pindah ke [[Nashville, Tennessee]]. Ibu Ke$ha memotivasi anak-anaknya untuk terjun ke dunia musik. Pada masa SMA, Ke$ha bersekolah di Brentwood High School. Teman-teman dan Ke$ha sendiri mengakui bahwa Ke$ha sangat rajin dan pandai dalam hal prestasi sekolah, ia bahkan memperoleh nilai hampir sempurna untuk ujian SAT. Penyanyi dengan tinggi 170cm iniIa memutuskan untuk keluar dari sekolahnya pada waktu berusia 17 tahun. Tujuan utama Ke$ha keluar dari sekolahnya adalah untuk mendalami serta fokus dalam karier bermusik. Berbagai cara ditempuh oleh Ke$ha untuk menjadi penyanyi profesional, Ke$ha pernah nekat memasuki kediaman penyanyi legendaris yang bernama [[Prince]] karena ia menginginkan Prince mendengar karya yang telah dibuat. Alhasil Ke$ha diperintahkan untuk pergi namun ia tidak lupa meninggalkan demo yang ditujukan untuk Prince namun sampai sekarang belum ada tanggapan dari pihak Prince. Setelah tinggal di Los Angeles, Ke$ha mengalami kesulitan finansial yang parah bahkan ia pernah mencuri makanan ringan di mini market serta makan makanan sisa yang ditemukannya di jalanan.
