== Kehidupan awal ==
Sebagai anak ketujuh dari sepuluh bersaudara, Blamey lahir pada 24 Januari 1884 di [[Lake Albert, New South Wales|Lake Albert]], dekat [[Wagga Wagga]], [[New South Wales]]. Ia adalah putra dari Richard Blamey, seorang petani yang berpindah dari [[Cornwall]] pada usia 16 tahun pada 1862, dan istri kelahiran Australia-nya, Margaret (née Murray).
