''Twilight Express'' terdiri dari akomodasi tipe "A" dan "B", semuanya khusus untuk kereta ini. Biaya tetap dikenakan untuk semua tempat tidur, terlepas dari lokasi awal atau akhir. Tarif lainnya, tarif dasar dan tarif ekspres terbatas, didasarkan pada jarak. Bagi penumpang yang menggunakan [[Japan Rail Pass]], tarif dasar tidak harus dibayar, meskipun tarif ekspres terbatas dan tarif kamar harus dibayar.
 
Kereta berangkat beberapa kali per minggu, dengan lebih banyak keberangkatan selama periode liburan. Kereta ''[[Nihonkai (kereta)|Nihonkai]]'' melakukan perjalanan pulang pergi setiap hari antara Osaka dan {{STN|Aomori}}, kemudian lanjut ke Hakodate atau Sapporo.
