Sebelum terjun ke film ia adalah seorang pegawai percetakan. Ia juga sempat aktif di dunia teater. Dan juga menjadi penata cahaya. Sebelum ke film, ia menjadi karyawan di Percetakan N.V.G. & Kolff Jakarta (1954-1958). Terjun ke dunia film sejak 1962 sebagai pemain, sementara pada tahun yang sama mulai sebagai Penata Cahaya di Bali Room Hotel Indonesia (1962-1971). Sebagai pemain, film-filmnya antara lain : Ballada Kota Besar (1962), Expedisi Terachir (1963), Apa Jang Kau Tangisi (1965), Sembilan (1967), Djampang Mentjari Naga Hitam (1968), Perawan di Sektor Selatan (1971) Si Pitung (1972), Biang Kerok Beruntung (1973), Pinangan (1976), Petualang-petualang (78), dan lain-lain. Setelah berhenti dari Hotel Indonesia, ia bekerja sebagai anggota unit di Motiograph Film. Di luar film pernah aktif di bidang Teater.
