Grand Prix InggrisBritania diadakan di sirkuit Aintree di Liverpool, dibandingkan dengan tahun sebelumnya yang diadakan di sirkuit Silverstone antara London dan Birmingham. Sirkuit Aintree terletak di tengah-tengah lapangan pacuan kuda tempat diselenggarakannya Grand National yang terkenal. Kedua pembalap Vanwall melewatkan Grand Prix Prancis, dan kembali beraksi untuk balapan kandang mereka. Ini akan menjadi balapan penting bagi olahraga motor Inggris. Pada awal lomba, Behra memimpin dengan Moss yang mengejar dan pembalap Inggris itulah yang muncul di depan pada akhir lap, untuk menyenangkan para penonton. Pembatalan Grand Prix Belgia dan Belanda di awal musim memungkinkan FIA untuk memasukkan GP Coppa Acerbo Pescara ke dalam Kejuaraan Dunia untuk pertama kalinya, meskipun telah dilombakan sejak tahun 1924. Balapan ini diadakan selama masa Grand Prix 1930-an yang diikuti oleh Mercedes, Auto Union dan Alfa Romeo, dan terus berlanjut sebagai balapan non-kejuaraan sepanjang tahun 1950-an. Sirkuit jalan umum sepanjang 25,6 &nbsp;km, terpanjang yang pernah digunakan untuk balapan Formula Satu (bahkan lebih panjang dari Nürburgring), sangat berbahaya.
