Kata seperti leluhur, roh, makhluk adalah dema dalam bahasa Marind. Kesamaan dari kata tersebut yang merujuk ke "setan" adalah bersifat insidental. Setiap keluarga terus menurunkan tradisi ini, itu terutama tugas dari orang-orang besar di keluarga masing-masing.
