Gempa terjadi di lepas pantai SumateraSumatra barat daya. Beberapa rumah bergeser sejauh 0,5 meter. Guncangannya terasa di [[Padang]] (+500&nbsp;km dari pusat gempa) dan [[Bandung]] (sekitar 600&nbsp;km dari pusat gempa). Kabarnya gempa juga dirasakan di [[Pamekasan]], [[Madura]], sekitar 1.250&nbsp;km dari pusat gempa.
