Proyek Mercury: Perbedaan antara revisi

Program ini melibatkan 7 astronotastronaut yang terbang dengan total 6 perjalanan solo. Pada tanggal 5 Mei 1961, [[Alan Shepard]] menjadi orang Amerika pertama di luar angkasa dalam penerbangan suborbital setelah Uni Soviet yang telah menempatkan [[Yuri Gagarin]] ke ruang angkasa dan dalam orbit bulan sebelumnya. John Glenn menjadi orang Amerika pertama untuk mencapai orbit pada tanggal 20 Februari 1962, ia adalah orang ketiga yang melakukannya, setelah astronotastronaut Soviet [[German Titov|Gherman Titov]] yang telah membuat penerbangan sepanjang hari di bulan Agustus 1961.
