== Etimologi ==
Ketika vokalis Chiharu Tamashiro dipada hari-hari sekolah dasar, ia mengunjungi Ikedamachi, Hokkaido, untuk regional exchange program. Dalam bahasa Ainu membuat kesan yang mendalam pada dirinya. Dengan Ainu kata-kata 'Kiroru' dan 'Kiroro-an', Tamashiro dan Kinjo memutuskan pada nama "Kiroro" untuk grup; "Kiroru" yang berarti lebar jalur untuk berjalan dan "Kiroro-an" yang berarti "tangguh" dan "sehat."
 
Nama "Kiroro," namun, sudah terdaftar pada tahun 1981 untuk Yamaha Organisasi di Kota Hamamatsu, Shizuoka, untuk Kiroro Resort di Akaigawa Desa, Hokkaido. Victor Entertainment membuat perjanjian dengan Yamaha organisasi untuk menggunakan nama tersebut.

== Kehidupan pribadi ==
Pada bulan januari 2005, vokalis Chiharu Tamashiro mengumumkan bahwa dia terlibattelah tunangan. Pada April 17 (yang bertepatan dengan hari ulang tahunnya), dia dan nya [[Pertunangan|tunangantunangannya]] memasukimendaftarkan registri keluarga. Pada bulan Mei, pianis Ayano Kinjo mengumumkan kehamilannyakehamilan dan pernikahanpernikahannya. Pada bulan juliJuli, Tamashiro mengumumkan kehamilannya. Pada bulan September 2005, mereka mengadakan "konser empat orang concert" di Okinawa dengan finale, Wasurenaide ("Jangan Lupa") sebelum ibuliburan pergihamil mereka. Kinjo melahirkan seorang bayi perempuan pada bulan November 2005. Tamashiro melahirkan seorang bayi laki-laki di bulan februariFebruari 2006. Pada bulan Maret 2007, Tamashiro mengumumkan kehamilan kedua, dan pada bulan September 2007, dia melahirkan seorang bayi perempuan.
