Hatib Abdul Kadir mendapatkan sarjana antropologi dari Universitas Gadjah Mada pada tahun 2007. Pada tahun 2010 lulus dari master on Religious and Cross-cultural Studies from Gadjah Mada University. Ia kemudian melanjutkan studi Antropologi, di University of California, Santa Cruz, USA pada tahun 2012. Mendapatkan gelar MA antropologi pada tahun 2014 dan menyelesaikan doktoralnya pada tahun 2018. Topik disertasinya adalah pertukaran komoditas dan mobilitas pedagang migran di kepulauan Maluku pasca konflik sectarian.
 
Hatib adalah penerima beasiswa Fulbright Doctor Fellowship pada tahun 2012-20152012–2015. Penerima Ethnographic Summer Field School, Tallahassee, Florida, funded by NSF (National Science Foundation) pada tahun 2016. Pada tahun 2017, ia mendapatkan beasiswa Dissertation Fellowship Award, Chancellor Blumenthal.
 
Saat ini ia bekerja sebagai peneliti Post doktoral di Department of Global Studies, Aarhus University. Denmark.
Di tahun 2022-2025 Hatib juga menjadi salah satu board editor untuk Jurnal Cultural Anthropology,
