At the age of 20, Tasha Jessen auditioned for the [[:en:The Voice (American season 23)|twenty-third]] season of ''[[:en:The Voice (American TV series)|The Voice]]'' singing [[:en:Leon Bridges|Leon Bridges']] "[[:en:Coming Home (Leon Bridges album)|River]]". Three of the four coaches, [[:en:Blake Shelton|Blake Shelton]], [[:en:Chance the Rapper|Chance the Rapper]], and [[:en:Niall Horan|Niall Horan]], turned their chairs for her. Jessen chose to be part of Team Blake, making her one of ten artists by the end of the Blind Auditions on Team Blake, and one of a total of forty artists advancing to the Battles.
In the Battles, Jessen competed against EJ Michels as the two sang "[[:en:The Tracks of My Tears|The Tracks of My Tears]]" by [[:en:The Miracles|The Miracles]]. Shelton deemed Jessen the winner and advanced her to the Knockout rounds (while her opponent, Michels, was stolen to Team Niall).
