At the age of 13, Hailey Mia auditioned for the [[:en:The Voice (American season 21)|twenty-first]] season of ''[[:en:The Voice (American TV series)|The Voice]]'' singing [[:en:Tate McRae|Tate McRae's]] "[[:en:You Broke Me First|you broke me first]]". Two of the four coaches, [[:en:Ariana Grande|Ariana Grande]] and [[:en:Kelly Clarkson|Kelly Clarkson]], turned their chairs for her. Mia chose to be part of Team Ariana.
In the Battles, Mia competed against Raquel Trinidad as the two sang "[[:en:Car Wash (song)|Car Wash]]" by [[:en:Rose Royce|Rose Royce]]. Grande deemed Trinidad the winner, however Mia was stolen by Clarkson, and continued the competition on her team. During the Knockouts, Mia defeated fellow team member The Cunningham Sisters with her rendition of "[[:en:Arcade (song)|Arcade]]" by [[:en:Duncan Laurence|Duncan Laurence]], and advanced to the Playoffs.
During the Playoffs, Mia performed "[[:en:Traitor (song)|traitor]]" by [[:en:Olivia Rodrigo|Olivia Rodrigo]] but was not chosen by the public, who could only save two artists from Clarkson's team. Clarkson, who could save one of her remaining artists, chose Gymani, leading Mia to compete for the Wildcard Instant Save. Mia continued advancing throughout the Live Shows. She received enough votes to advance to the finale.
