Orfeus pernah berpetualang bersama [[YasonIason]] dalam rombongan [[Argonaut]]nya. Suatu ketika para Argonaut berpapasan dengan para [[Siren]] (makhluk bersayap yang membuai para pelaut dengan nyanyian mereka dan menghancurkan kapal para pelaut). Para Siren tersebut lalu bernyanyi untuk memikat para Argonaut namun Orfeus langsung mengambil liranya dan memainkan lagu yang lebih merdu daripada nyanyian para Siren. Para Siren yang merasa kalah akhirnya pergi.

Orfeus meninggal dengan cara dibunuh oleh para [[MaenadMainad]] karena tidak menghormati [[dewa]] [[Dionisos]].
