Pada tanggal 26 September 2011, teaser pertama yang menampilkan [[Taeyeon]] dirilis untuk comeback yang akan datang untuk full album ketiga "The Boys", diikuti oleh [[Sunny]] & [[Hyoyeon]] pada tanggal 27 September 2011. [[Jessica]], [[Sooyoung]] dan [[Tiffany]] pada tanggal 28 September 2011 dan [[Yoona]], [[Yuri]], dan [[Seohyun]] pada 29 September 2011. Pada tanggal 1 Oktober 2011, [[SM Entertainment]] merilis gambar video teaser pertama untuk ''The Boys''. [[SM Entertainment]] merilis teaser gambar kedua untuk "The Boys" pada tanggal 7 Oktober 2011.
