: anyway, that floating tunnel I was saying, it's interesting. I'm investigating on that because I'm curious to see whether that is feasible to connect the islands of my Cape Verde :) and as I said, some people have thought of it to connect indonesia's islands too, where bridges are too hard or expensive to build http://en.wiki-indonesia.club/wiki/Submerged_floating_tunnel in case the thought interests you ;)

::Yes, I think Indonesian word for it is: Terowongan Dasar Laut:
http://www2.kompas.com/kompas-cetak/0404/05/daerah/951188.htm It says that infrastructure Selat Sunda will connect Bali to Thailand. There are two option arises: Bridge option and undersea tunnel option. On 2004 the tunnel option was discussed more, specially when Kwik Kian Gie (Minister of National Development) announce that there will be European Concortium interested to invest in the under sea tunnel between Java and Sumatera. The budget was told to be around 15 billion US dols for under sea tunnel in Sunda Strait, in long term it is hoped to link up an uninterrupted chain of Bali, Java, Sumatera, Malaysia,
and Thailand. The project was hoped to start construction in 2005 and ready to use by 2018 it is a part of Asian Highway dan ASEAN Highway. (note from translator: But the idea lost, the bridge won:

:thanks a lot, that was a lot of info :) I added it to the article, but since I cannot read the original indonesian news pieces, I'd like to ask you to please confirm the "undersea tunnel" they were referring were really submerged floating tunnels, instead of regular immersed tubes (http://en.wiki-indonesia.club/wiki/Immersed_tube) or excavated
tunnels, like the Channel Tunnel (http://en.wiki-indonesia.club/wiki/Channel_Tunnel)
