Setelah [[Perang Dunia II]] berakhir, ia ditangkap oleh otoritas SCAP (Supreme Commander for the Allied Powers) atau [[Komandan Tertinggi Sekutu]] dan dituntut sebagai penjahat perang karena keterlibatannya dalam pembunuhan [[Ketua Mahkamah Agung Filipina]], [[José Abad Santos]]. Ia dihukum di [[Penjara Sugamo]] dari tahun [[1946]] hingga [[1953]] dan meninggal di Jepang pada [[1961]].
