Meski telah lama berdiri serta melewati berbagai masa pemerintahan, PLTA berkapasitas 40 MW ini masih terus beroperasi dan menerangi ribuan rumah di Sulawesi Utara. PLTA ini dioperasikan oleh PLN Sektor Pembangkitan Minahasa, PLN Wilayah Suluttenggo.
PLTA Tonsea Lama memiliki 3 unit generator, dimana PLTA ini mampu menyalurkan listrik ke sistem interkoneksi Sulawesi Utara Gorontalo dan membantu ketersedian pasokan listrik di kedua Provinsi tersebut.
Tonsealama Hydroelectric Power Plant or Tonsealama Hydroelectric Power Plant, is one of the water-powered power plants, located in Tonsealama Village, North Tondano District, Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi Province. The PLTA uses the Tondano River water as a driving source for its turbines, this In-take dam and PLTA inlet is located in the Tonsealama area of North Tondano.
The Tonsealama Hydroelectric Power Plant Tonsealama is the oldest PLTA in Indonesia.
Built in the Dutch colonial era in 1912.
Old Tonsea Hydroelectric Power Plant which was built and operated since the Dutch colonial era has a beautiful environment. Aside from being one of the sources of electricity production for the needs of the PLN customers, in this PLTA also for each of those who visit as if invited to explore the historical heritage tracks of the Dutch and Japanese. Starting from water dams, tunnels, turbines, to generators that are decades old.
Despite its long standing and passing through various periods of government, this 40 MW hydroelectric power plant is still operating and illuminating thousands of homes in North Sulawesi. This PLTA is operated by the PLN Minahasa Generation Sector, PLN Suluttenggo Region.
The Tonsea Lama PLTA has 3 generator units, where the PLTA is able to deliver electricity to the North Sulawesi Gorontalo interconnection system and help supply electricity in the two Provinces.
