Kemudian pada tahun 2014, herpetolog [[Peng Guo (herpetolog)|Peng Guo]] mengklasifikasikan sebagian spesies ''Amphiesma'' ke dalam genus ''Hebius''. Sebagiannya lagi diklasifikasikan ke genus ''Herpetoreas'', sehingga genus ''Amphiesma'' hanya terdiri dari satu spesies tunggal, ''Amphiesma stolatum''.<ref name=Guo>Guo et al.</ref>
