Pada Januari 1819, Kapten James Henderson dari kapal British East India Company Hercules melihat Pulau Oeno. Oeno dianeksasi oleh Inggris pada 10 Juli 1902. Tahun 1938, pulau itu dimasukkan ke dalam koloni Kepulauan Pitcairn.
