Pada tanggal 31 Agustus 1998, ketika bermain untuk Indonesia dalam pertandingan grup [[Piala Tiger 1998]] melawan [[tim nasional sepak bola Thailand|Thailand]], Mursyid dengan sengaja mencetak [[gol bunuh diri]] untuk mempengaruhi hasil pertandingan.
