Hal ini menandai terciptanya dua sekte [[Ismailisme Musta'li]] yang bersaing, yaitu sekte [[Isma'ilisme Hafizi|Hafizi]], yang mengikuti al-Hafiz, dan sekte Tayyibi, yang mengikuti al-Tayyib. Kaum Tayyibi berpendapat bahwa al-Tayyib telah diselamatkan dari Kairo dan dibawa ke tempat aman, namun dia dan semua imam Tayyibi berikutnya tetap bersembunyi. Komunitas Tayyibi malah dipimpin oleh serangkaian 'misionaris absolut' ({{Transl|ar|[[da'i al-mutlaq]]}}).
