== Sejarah ==
Kedutaan Besar Filipina di Jakarta awalnya dibuka sebagai konsulat pada tanggal 24 November 1949, satu bulan sebelum hubungan diplomatik antara Filipina dan [[Republik Indonesia Serikat]] dimulai pada tanggal 27 Desember 1949.<ref>{{Cite web|last=Pandjaitan|first=Rudi|date=2014-01-09|title=A Tale of Two Archipelagos: The Philippines and Indonesia|url=http://cms.globeasia.com/columnists/a-tale-of-two-archipelagos-the-philippines-and-indonesia/|website=Jakarta Globe|access-date=2024-11-09}}</ref> Dua bulan sebelumnya, [[Pemerintahan Filipina|Pemerintah Filipina]] telah menugaskan Vicente Pastrana, yang sebelumnya merupakan sekretaris pertama Kedutaan Besar Filipina di [[Washington, D.C.|Washington D. C.]], untuk bertugas sebagai konsul di Jakarta. Adapun jabatan wakil konsul ditugaskan kepada Marciano Joven.
Konsulat ini ditingkatkan statusnya menjadi [[legasi]] pada tanggal 17 Februari 1950, ketika Presiden [[Elpidio Quirino]] menunjuk Manuel V. Gallego, yang sebelumnya menjabat sebagai Sekretaris Pendidikan, untuk ditugaskan di Indonesia. Pada tanggal 20 April 1951, Quirino mengangkat mantan Domingo Imperial sebagai Duta Besar Filipina untuk Indonesia yang pertama, dan kedutaannya ditingkatkan menjadi kedutaan besar penuh. Pada masa itu, kedutaan besar tersebut adalah Kedutaan Besar Filipina pertama yang didirikan di negara [[Asia Tenggara]].
