Sebagian dokter spesialis melanjutkan pendidikan ke jenjang yang lebih tinggi yaitu subspesialis (Sp2), atau lebih dikenal sebagai konsultan. Pendidikan Sp2 ini dijalani selama 4 sampai 6 semester. Beberapa gelar yang ditambahkan<ref name=":0" />:
