Bahasa ibunya ialah [[bahasa Sama-Bajau]]. Kepulauan ini merupakan salah satu dari dua jembatan darat parsial menuju pulau [[Borneo]] serta sebagai rute migrasi [[burung]]. Kepulauan Sulu disebut juga Spaniard.
