Total ada 386 spesies Pokémon yang bisa kita dapatkan atau kita tangkap dalam game Pokémon versi ini. 151 spesies Pokémon yang ada di region Kanto dari mulai [[Bulbasaur]] sampai [[Mew]], 100 spesies Pokémon yang tinggal di region Johto, dari mulai [[Chikorita]] sampai [[Celebi]]. Dan 135 spesies baru yang ada di Hoenn, dari mulai [[Treecko]] sampai [[Deoxys]]. Namun tidak semuanya bisa kita dapatkan secara mudah, karena ada beberapa spesies yang tidak bisa kita tangkap di alam, melainkan harus melalui suatu acara, atau bahkan memakai kode curang game shark atau action replay.
