Sejak Agustus 2007 sampai 2008, Lin Che Wei menjabat ebagai CEO dari Sampoerna Foundation, sebuah yayasan pendidikan yang didirikan oleh Putera Sampoerna. Mendirikan perusahaan di bidang corporate advisory dan research di bawah bendera PT Independent Research Advisory Indonesia.
Pada 2012, Lin Che Wei bersama [[Metta Dharmasaputra]], Heri Susanto, dan Ade Wahyudi terlibat dalam pendirian Katadata, sebuah media online dan riset di bidang ekonomi bisnis dengan alamat situs http://www.katadata.co.id/.
