Namun di kemudian hari, Pasukan Abadi dibentuk kembali di bawah kekuasaan kaisar [[Mikhael VII Doukas]] (1071–1081).<ref name=ODB/><ref>Steven Runciman, ''Byzantine Civilisation''</ref> Jenderalnya, [[Nikephoritzes|Nikephoros]], mereorganisir pasukan daerah tengah ("Tagmata") di Kekaisaran Bizantium seiring [[Pertempuran Manzikert|kekalahan di Manzikert]] oleh [[Bangsa Turki|Turki]] pada 1071.
