Jurnalisme kuning adalah jurnalisme pemburukan makna. Ini disebabkan karena orientasi pembuatannya lebih menekankan pada berita-berita sensasional daripada substansi isinya. Tentu saja, karena tujuannya untuk meninngkatkan penjualan ia sering dituduh jurnalisme yang tidak profesional, dan tak beretika. Karena yang dipentingkan adalah bagaimana caranya masyarakat suka pada beritanya. Perkara ia diprotes oleh kalangan tertentu tidak akan bergeming. Perkara isinya tidak sesuai dengan fakta yang terjadi, itu soal nanti.
