Crotone kembali promosi ke [[Lega Pro Seconda Divisione|Serie C2]] pada musim 1984–85 namun hanya bertahan satu musim. Kemudian nama mereka diubah menjadi ''Kroton Calcio'' dan promosi ke Serie C2 pada musim 1987-88 dan bertahan hingga 1991. Kebangkrutan kedua menyebabkan dibentuknya tim baru bernama Football Club Crotone Calcio dipimpin oleh '''Raffaele Vrenna''' sebagai presiden, dan memulai kompetisi di liga [[Promozione]].
