Album ini dirilis pada 22 September 2004 oleh Sactuary Records dan diproduseri oleh ''Kevin Elson''. Kevin adalah produser album fenomenal Europe pada tahun 1986 yaitu [[The Final Countdown]].
Start From the Dark menampilkan kembali gitaris [[John Norum]] yang keluar dari band akhir 1986. [[Kee Marcello]], gitaris yang memperkuat Europe sejak 1986 sampai dengan 1992 sebelum grup ini memutuskan vakum, tidak ikut bergabung dalam formasi saat ini.
