The bite of this snake is venomous and the effects are not just caused by an allergic reaction.You can find both in vitro and in vivo toxicology studies on the internet.The infrequency of envenomation or symptoms are due to the snake's primitive venom injection apparatus.
There has been one fatality in the U.S.A and it has been banned from the pet trade.I have a full set of medical records including haemostatic analysis from my own experience of being bitten.
