Bersama dengan istrinya, Imelda, Marcos melarikan diri ke [[Hawaii]]. Di sana ia dituduh menggelapkan uang negara dan pinjaman dari luar negeri untuk kepentingannya dan kroni-kroninya (terutama pinjaman dari [[Amerika Serikat]], yang merupakan sekutu terdekat Filipina) dan ditemukan bersalah.
