''Matenadaran'' (մատենադարան) adalah istilah yang dibentuk dari penggabungan kata ''matean'' ([:wikt:մատեան|մատեան]]) yang artinya "buku" atau "perkamen" dan ''daran'' (դարան) yang artinya "penyimpanan" atau "koleksi".
