== Kehidupan awal ==
Sung Yu-ri lahir di 1981 di [[Tübingen]], [[Baden-Württemberg]] (pada waktu itu di [[Jerman Barat]]). Ayahnya Sung Jong-hyun, seorang profesor teologi berpengaruh di Seminari Teologi dan Kolese Presbiterian, yang pada waktu itu belajar di Jerman Barat. Keluarga Sung kembali ke [[Korea Selatan]] ketika ia berusia empat tahun dan ia dibesarkan di [[Distrik Gangdong]], [[Seoul]].
