Festival tahunan kota ini diadakan pada pertengahan Juli, yaitu "Inaka Matsuri". Festival ini berlangsung selama dua hari yang dimulai dari persimpangan utama kota dengan parade yang menampilkan Tarian Atsuma dan berlanjut keesokan harinya dengan penampilan di Bendungan Atsuma.
Pada 6 September 2018, Atsuma menjadi kota dengan dampak terparah dari [[Gempa bumi Iburi Timur Hokkaido 2018]].
